Into the Real World!
After graduating with my degree in Biomedical Science from the University of Waterloo - I took a step back and realized I wanted to further pursue a career in research.

Variety is the Spice of Life!
So...I took a chance and did the only thing a researcher could do - I experimented and tried different avenues where I could apply the skills I loved in different ways.
I volunteered at the Interprofessional Practice Based Research, worked at a chiropractic clinic & dental clinic - but nothing was clicking!
Meanwhile, I was enjoying my creative side - creating bullet journal spreads & writing stories.
So...I took a chance and did the only thing a researcher could do - I experimented and tried different avenues where I could apply the skills I loved in different ways.

General Assembly
Then the pandemic happened.
I decided to be introspective and see what other skills I had to offer the world. What else was I passionate about? Storytelling.
That is how I found my way to User Experience Design. I decided the best way to learn was to jump right into things at General Assembly.

SponsorCircle
I knew gaining experience was the best way to learn and grow. Immediately after graduating from GA, I found an apprenticeship at Sponsor Circle.
Sponsor Circle is a digital platform intended to connect brands with different sponsorship events.
After apprenticing for 3 months, I was brought onboard part time as Sponsor Circle’s UX Designer.
Jun 21' - Jan 24'
Flöka
A few months into working at Sponsor Circle, I decided to take the time to find experience in other industries as a UX Designer. That is how I found Flöka, a Healthcare app & web based platform that helps facilitate providers’ online practices with their female clientele.
The platform integrates patients’ app & wearable data into a comprehensive dashboard. Providers are also able to create daily programs for their clientele.
Working at Flöka, I was able to combine both my knowledge of Biomedical science with my love for Product Design, working on various end-to-end projects.

Today
My many years of experience as a Designer has not only helped me further develop both my research and storytelling skills - and I have loved every second of it!
Unfortunately, I was also apart of the many people that experienced lay offs in early 2024.
As a result, I am currently looking for a role that will give me the opportunity to showcase the skills I have developed and where design has a strong voice!

But I am taking this opportunity to continue learning…I am currently curious out what user experience should look like in AI-driven Platforms - as well as how cybersecurity will evolve within this new AI era .
